SLUGGERS CO-ED SOFTBALL - Alone In First Place and Own Tie Breaker Victory Over Team Mora!

Great Victory Tonight for the Sluggers Co-Ed Softball Team! This was our most important game for the second half of the season, defeating Team Mora 18 to 12. This victory places us in first place in the league and gives us the “tie breaker” win over this team if we should end the season with the same record. Our overall record is now 6-1-1 (Win-Loss-Tie) and their record is 5-2-1.

A lot of great hits this game, with Josh hitting at least a couple of triples and Kacey getting her stand-up triple. Eric pounds his 6th Home Run of the season over the fence. We had a good 6 run inning in the third, and our 4 run rally in the top of the ninth solidified our lead and eventual victory.

This was a good hitting team, but our defense responded and we never lost the lead the entire game. There were a lot of great defensive plays and Vim even recorded 3 outs as catcher (2 pop-ups and a throw from Chris to home to get the runner out). The infield played tight and made a lot of good plays. A lot of caught flyballs and good relays from Josh and Scott to keep the opponent’s men base runners to only doubles after the ball hit the fence. You even had your ol’ Coach Ed stumbling but not fumbling to record a couple of outs in the outfield (I’m too old to do the “ballet” catches that Josh can do).

Aloha to Scott, his wife Julie, and Miranda who will be enjoying fun in the sun in Hawaii!

One last item: No softball game next week due to Halloween! Enjoy the week off and have fun!

Best,
Coach Ed

SLUGGERS CO-ED SOFTBALL - Great Start to the Second Half of the Season

Our Sluggers Co-Ed Softball Team (5-1-1) remains in first place with our victory tonight. We had our second best offensive performance, beating Team Danner 21 to 14. Ben joined the Home Run chase with his blast to deep center field which clinched the win for us in the top of the ninth. I like Vanessa’s hit over the third baseman’s head too…forced him to move back and play the base line. A lot of great hitting from everyone!

Best,
Coach Ed

Bolts Dominate 49ers!

The San Diego Chargers destroyed the 49ers, 48 to 19. LT scores 4 TDs in the game to become the Chargers all-time leader in TDs scored. Martyball disappears with Rivers throwing for a career high 334 yards and 2 TDs. Open it up Bolts!

Padres Win Back-2-Back NL West Divisions!

Padres Win Back-2-Back National League West Division Championships! Jake Peavy to take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the NLDS.

SLUGGERS CO-ED SOFTBALL - Earn # 1 Ranking in their Division Near the Halfway Mark.

The October nights are getting colder, but the Sluggers bats are heating everything up. We took on the #1 ranked team in the league, out hit them 17-12, and now we are #1 in the division. Great throw by Chris from RF to throw out a runner at third. Kacey caught a line drive hit at her at 2B (hope your hand feels OK). Eric continues his onslaught with another HR over the fence (actually hit the top of the “silver monster” and bounced over) and Coach Ed hits one to the other field. A lot of triples tonight too by Josh and newcomer Ernie (Eric’s brother). We also welcome newcomer Patty who caught a pop-up for an out at the catcher position. Everyone was hitting tonight and our defense settled down late in the game to clinch the win.

Congrats Team!
Coach Ed
